To I say my experience with this company was positive does not cover it.Have been considering.Solar for some time but as we have a 3 storey South East facing house did not think it would be viable with fiscally or logistically..Having spoken to a number of companies that did indeed seem to be the case, even if they would consider an installation given the height of the roof I was getting the impression I was being offered an “off the peg” package when I wanted it tailored to me .Andrew from Start Solar gave me that, face to face meeting to answer my many many questions, gave me confidence in dealing with this company.Installation agreed, installed Tuesday the 13 of May 2025 (3 days ago) by an amazing team, seeing the benefits already. Highly recommended!

After doing a bit of research online I narrowed it down to Start Solar and knew they were the company for me. After recently getting my solar system installed, I can safely say that they were every bit as good as I expected. Very professional company and I would highly recommend them

We recently had Andrew out to talk us through having solar panels installed at our house and within weeks had a fully installed system. From initial interaction, through installation and beyond I can only commend Start Solar for their professionalism, efficiency and transparency. I had done some research prior to meeting Andrew and he was very tuned in to my requirements and expectations and determined a setup best suiting my needs. We have an all electric house so solar generation will assist us massively in reducing bills and that was considered throughout. The installers and electrician where out within weeks and had panels and battery installed within a few hours. They were very clean, tidy and efficient and took time throughout to check I was happy with positioning and to give an overview of what they were doing, how it worked and things I needed to be aware of. Start Solar also have a very open door approach to after sales and whilst I have had no issues and thus need to contact them, I have decided I want an additional battery (something we did discuss at inception as a potential add on) and was able to arrange this with minimal effort.Great company, highly recommended.

The worst company we had to deal with. Very disappointed.Update:I can’t reply to the comment, so I’m updating the original post:Look dear, during the site inspection, we were informed that 12 panels might not fit on our roof, but 10 panels would definitely fit The plan was clear: on installation day, the team would bring 2 extra panels. If there was space, they’d install them, and we’d just pay for the extra panels.But on the day of installation, the team showed up with only 10 panels — even though they confirmed there was room for 2 more.When we contacted the office, they said yes, the extra panels can be installed — but now we’d have to pay a €500 call-out fee again, on top of the panel cost.Here’s the message we received:“There’s no issue adding 2 panels, but there will be a call-out fee which is a directive from the office.Panels €350 eachInstallation €500Total €1,200 + VAT”We have no issue paying for the panels themselves – but why should we pay the call-out fee again, when it was clearly expected that the decision on the 2 extra panels would be made during installation?After several emails and calls, but we've been ignored, which is extremely disappointing.After a year of silence, someone finally reacted to our review! One star, well deserved @startsolar.co.uk

A 7 month long nightmare dealing with this company. Avoid at all costs.Install was Oct 2024 costing the best part of £11k, within days I could see the system wasn't working properly. No one took my queries seriously. The battery then went into complete shut down and it was a nightmare trying to get them to listen, someone take ownership of the issues and come out to resolve. They eventually went into action after I submitted a formal complaint. Fast forward to April 2025 and they have only just fulfilled their requirements on the paperwork, and the scaffold blocking access to my shed is still up. I would avoid this company at all costs. They insist on full payment for you to receive your required install paperwork and then don't provide it, and they are no help when your system is not working from install.

Suzie attended and went through everything that was easy to understand. Throughout communication was seamless. Installation team were prompt, respectful and very friendly. I was initially sceptical about panels, but it does what it says on the tin! My advice is to include a battery to store electricity for the evenings... It works! Don't need bright sunshine, just daylight to charge battery as well as selling excess back to the grid. Looking forward to a cheque from Power NI in October for excess sold to them, to help with gas bill over winter. Feb electricity bill was £13, March £1!

Nothing but good words to say about Solar. From the initial consultation to the work carried out. All top class. Work carried out spotlessly. You wouldn't know they had been here. The system itself is brilliant, we are already seeing the difference.We would highly recommend 🙌🏼

I was quite happy when I first had my solar panels installed then after a short time I realised something was wrong. I wasn’t getting hot water at all so start solar sent out a man to fix it, the panels worked after that for a while then I noticed I was spending quite a lot more than I had expected to. They sent someone out again. This had happened a few times but the last time I complained they refused to send out anyone. I know for sure the panels aren’t doing what they should be doing ie saving me money on electricity. I wouldn’t recommend this firm to install panels for anyone else. Please go to a better firm to get your solar panels.
