Winding down this company and have opened up as solar uk renewables.Scammers!Absolute cowboys. Not MCS certified. Untrained. Incompetent.Purchased a PV system from them, shoddy work followed by lies and excuses about certification, warranties and compensation payments. In the end Visa took legal action against them. Calls go unanswered, emails ignored. The director of hybrid homes is also the director of SOLAR DIRECT UK RENEWABLES LTD and SOLAR UK RENEWABLES LTD. Avoid! The director is Matthew Graham HOLNESS.
AVOID. They take advantage of older people. My 76 year old friend was called by this company saying they could see there was a fault on her solar panels. Suggested installing a booster/inverter. She not knowing any better agreed. They installed a second hand unit that had paint, marks and dents on it and was not installed just put on the wall. We called them to give them an opportunity to resolve our complaint, seemed shocked. Phoned back three months later to ask the name of the engineer on the paperwork.. We had a second company come out and look at it and all the paperwork, advised to take legal action and confirmed the unit is not connected, old, used and that they cannot connect into her panels (which we guessed was the case) AVOID at all cost.
Moved into our house, old bills handed to us from the family of a 90 year old who lived here, passed away. £4,090 for a maintenance contract to clean solar panels and re gas aircon. Seriously!! Poor lady, horrendous.
My story - I received a cold call informing me that Hybrid Homes Ltd had taken on the contract from the company who had installed my residential solar panels and inverter etc..I accepted their invitation to conduct a free check of my system. Having ‘checked’ the system I was informed that the inverter was generating 250v ac which, being higher than the national grid feed to the house at 240v ac would lead to my inverter over heating and bursting into flames.Having consulted with other recommended solar companies and the main dealer for my inverter, it became very clear that much of what the technician ‘checking’ the system told me was nonsense. I requested an e-mailed quote for the cost of installing a replacement inverter which came to £2,100.00 which was almost double that of other quotes received. Additionally I checked out this company on Companies House – all a bit dodgy. Needless to say Hybrid Homes Ltd wont be getting any business from me. Upshot from advice received is - if your inverter is not showing an error code then there is very likely nothing wrong with it. If any doubt then then pay a local recommended firm to carry out a safety check – approx. £200.00BEWARE – THIS COMPANY OPERATES A BUSINESS MODEL SIMILAR TO THAT DESCRIBED AT THE WEBSITE ‘mrsolar .co .uk /common-solar-panel-scams’
Avoid totally they are a bunch of crooks and scammers they sold me a second hand inverter that does not work they said it was new and it's going to cost a small fortune to put right as they cut the plugs off of my panels as well and wired it all up wrong. when I did get through to them on the telephone they were rude and aggressive disconnect calls swear called my wife a nasty name . Have returned various recorded delivery letters saying not at this adress where they supposedly work from etc etc AVOID. AVOID AVOID
DO NOT use this company AVOID at all costs. I had a solar panel, inverter and battery system fitted in September 2022. I wasn’t given an MCS certificate or any app login information, despite this being in the written contract, given and signed August 2022. I bought the system on the basis I would have MCS and could sell back to the grid. At that time their website said they were accredited. I was asking for the MCS certificate weekly either by phone or email, just being fobbed off with ‘yes it’s coming’ The system failed in February 2023. It took 6 weeks of phone calls, emails and going to their office to get an engineer visit. The engineer advised me that the system had been wired incorrectly in the first place. I was finally given app login information but still no MCS certificate. I discovered in June 2023 from MCS themselves that Hybrid Homes were not part of their scheme and hadn’t been since June 2022, so the contract given to me in August 2022 was misrepresentation and lies. The company after ‘fixing’ the system March 2023 have ignored any attempt at contact from myself and have also ignored a solicitor’s letter. February 2024 the system has failed again, the company set up an engineer appointment that was ‘double booked’ and are now ignoring any attempts to contact them. PLEASE DO NOT USE this company.
I had Hybrid Homes install a new invertor and a solar reading meter. I have since found out that the invertor is second hand, being at least 12 months old and would not have a warranty on although the company quoted a 10year warranty on the
Sadly all these recent reviews are true. Avoid this company at all costs. They refuse to take our calls or make any effort to resolve the problems they have created. They mis-sold a number of spurious items to my elderly parents and charged for made up and often quite aggressive engineering call outs. They still have a replacement optimiser which belongs to them which was sent FOC under guarantee from the manufacturer which they have probably sold on by now. We had to purchase a replacement costing hundreds of £’s. In total my parents spent around £7k which they’ll probably never get back. They are total charlatans. I hope this review stops another poor family from 18 months of stress and huge expense.
Honestly? Don't deserve 1 star. Installers damaged roof tiles which was eventually fixed on companies cost. No MCS certificate was issued. We still fighting to get it (from October 2022). They avoiding are phone calls and disregard our emails. Avoid! Avoid and one more time AVOID
My initial experience with the company was very good. As another reviewer mentioned they neglected to inform me that they were no longer MCS registered. My installation took place in September 2022. They have told me that they are hoping to resolve that issue but now they seem to be avoiding taking my calls. Worse though is the fact that the panels they put on top of the house, on a flat roof extension, were not really done to standard. I only realised this when I was unable to sleep due to the noise on the roof during windy weather. A panel designed to prevent birds and other wildlife getting under the solar panels was loose and insufficiently fixed to the body of the frame. They tried to remedy this but left a large bag of gravel on top of my roof which looks unsightly and it’s probably not going to last. I also discovered that some of the tiling on a new section of roof where they had also put panels was also disturbed. I am still waiting for them to remedy these issues.
Unfortunately Hybrid Homes mis sold a Voltage Optimiser to my vulnerable 84 year old Mother in Law earlier this year saying it would save her money on her electric bills, (having sold her solar panels two years previously). It would have taken her more than 30 years to break even with the cost of the overpriced equipment (£2,205 which could be bought via the internet for £632), let alone make a saving. Now they will not respond to emails, letters or phone messages. Take care with this company, it appears they're happy to take your money, but not resolve complaints
Smooth off-grid install. 30 panels and battery system. No issues with the team or communications. Not sure why recent comments have been off as my experience has been very good.
This company cold called my vulnerable, elderly mother and arranged for an engineer to check the inverter for her solar panels. Luckily I happened to be with her for the appointment. The "engineer" turned up wearing a hoodie and jeans with a couple of screwdrivers sticking out of his pocket, and while he had a cardboard Hybrid Homes folder he had no offical ID. I sent him away. Called Hybrid Homes and asked for my mother's details to be removed from their database, but I have no doubt that we will be hearing from them or another bunch of solar panel cowboys again in a couple of months time.
Our battery was installed June 2023 but we subsequently had a bad experience with someone claiming to be from Hybrid Homes, who disconnected it. The firm immediately responded to our complaint and put the whole system right very competently and carefully, also helping to set up an app.
Do NOT use this company. They and not registered despite their email and website saying so. We used them because they were Which recommended but they have left scaffolding at our house for 5 months and a litany of bad practice. We now cannot get hold of them.
Sadly, they appear to be crooks and I have to suggest you AVOID Hybrid Homes at all costs. They are not MCS registered or registered with a trade body - AND HAVE NOT BEEN SINCE JULY 2022. They still took my deposit, showing me an old certificate (from before they were deregistered); only after checking on the MCS website and showing them the lack of register did they admit to not being registered. Despite requesting a refund a few days after paying the deposit, and eventually getting them to agree to process the refund, they never paid and I had to get the credit card company to cancel the transaction. Really sad they were so bad - I had high hopes.Update: Since writing this review, they took the time to call me to apologise, noting that they had issues which they have since overcome. I cannot update the body of the review (which remains completely true) but at least wanted to note this.
